Keep Your Message SimpleI find it a bit comical that so many marketing folks try to over-complicate a company’s message and/or a product value proposition. I think we, as humans, have the need to sound like the smartest person in the room, so we speak . When it comes to marketing and selling, smarter is not always better. I would say that when it comes to your message clarity and brevity are always better. Simplicity Works!

So when it comes to delivering a message…be crystal clear! You are the expert in what you do. You are the expert on your product, your service and/or your offering, your prospect is not. It is a huge mistake to assume that your prospect knows or understands the value of what you have to offer.

When crafting a message, I recommend you always assume your audience is dumber than you are and make your message so clear that even a child would understand the value. Just image that you are giving a lecture on Marketing to a class full of 1st graders. You will have to be crystal clear and find ways in your communication to ensure everyone understands you.

Always remember that confused sales prospects do not buy.
